SEE ~@-@~ I am stitching!!

More so on my model.. thats for sure! I hope to have it finished next week! As that is how close Im getting to the end! Vickie calls it my "Men", and I only have 2 men to go!

During movies, though I put the model stitching aside and I watch our Netflix movies. While stitching something not so involved, it helps keep the frog visits to a minimual.. LOL So I pick up Snapperville. So you can see, I either spend too much time paying attention to the movie.. or I stitch slower while watching a movie..LOL Oh well. Tonight I finished up the Pumpkin Farm, while watching Evan Almighty.

For work now, I have been taking a small project with me to work. What my plan is/was to do is stitch my ornament projects at work. So here is a WIP of "Log Cabin At Running Deer Farm" - Prairie Schooler, from the '07 JCS Christmas Ornament mag.

Oh, and I got a really cool OTT Light in the mail today! Im going to use it with my sewing machine. As the LED light on the sewing machine is not bright enough. So I hope that it will help. I got it for a great day off eBay (buy it now deal), and Im very happy with it!

Make My Day Award!

I was skimming thru my Google Reader, and I stopped to read a post by Jennifer . As I read it, I found out that I was awarded a "Make My Day Award", with the instruction to pass it on to 10 more bloggers who make my day.

As always, its hard to pick just 10. I have quite a few blogs on my reader, but Im going to stitch with the ones that I really look forward to seeing a post. First I would like to say, THANK YOU to the ones that stop by my blog to take a look around or leave a comment, it means alot! And finding how people get here (thru the search engines), its amazing what people are looking for, and its something they find on my blog that keeps them coming back. So thank you! (And dont worry, nothing R rated has been shown yet... and it better stay that!)

The Rules: Give the award to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel happy about blogland. Let them know by posting a comment on their blog so they can pass it on. Beware you may get the award several times.

So I would like to award the following the "Make My Day Award"
2. Shari - Shari's Sharings
3. Rebecca - Rebel in Ontario
5. Katie - Jeremiah's Mom
9. Chicken Lady - The Chicken Coop
10. Rachel - Scrap Happens

Thanks again for being apart of my blogging experience! There are many more out there that Im starting to discover! So much enabling out there, thats for sure!

SBQ for Feb 6th

This week's SBQ was suggested by Kathryn and is:

Are there other crafts that you have tried and abandoned? Why do you like stitching better?

And to think at one time I gave up cross stitching! I brought it back as I needed something do since moving north, these long winters can drive a person crazy!

Back to the question... well, umm I have tried knitting and crocheting in the past, but I will leave that hobby to my Mom. I have thought about scrapbooking, but naww, that is for my sister. I have done decorative painting in the past, as I said, in the past..LOL

I do also quilt, but I find that I love cross stitching more, as I love to sit in my recliner watch tv, and stitch! What a way to spend the winters!

The light not so at the end of the tunnel

Ahhhh, I just had to say that. I love stitching on this BAP of a model, but I gotta stop blog hopping, cause Im getting in so much trouble! My wish list is growing by the blog, I swear..LOL

Im going to start Brave Hearts from Little House Needleworks, AFTER I finish my model. That is going to be my reward for finishing up. I hope to in the next 2 weeks or so to have a HUGE yippee! I ordered my Crescent Colour threads from The Dogwood Patch in GA. I happen to be bummed cause I couldnt go to a Superbowl sale, so I did the next best thing.. went online to find the best sale, and I found it there. I have my fabric all set to go.. Im going to stitch it on 28ct Creamy Cocoa from Sassy's Fabbys.

Now Im just waiting on the threads, and to finish up the model, off to stitch!

Moosie Loves the QSnap Huggers!

I received this email the other day, and I thought it was just the cutest! Ive received permission to repost the email from the original poster.

Hi, Kim, The qsnap huggers came today, and they're wonderful! Thank you so much for making them, and for coming up with the idea to begin with. I put them both on WIPs and I know I'll enjoy using them.. I've got to ask...were they near catnip or cats? You see, after stitching with one for a little bit, I patted my main coon cat, who was sleeping on the loveseat next to me. She started licking my hand, and when I went to move it away, she held on and insisted on licking some more, and rubbing her head and cheek against my hand. I showed her the qsnap with the hugger on, and she started rubbing against it and rolling around like she does around catnip. See attached pic of Chocolate Mousse (Moosie, 'cause she's a big cat) snuggled up to the gold berry hugger. :-) She was not too pleased when I wanted it back to do some more stitching. Lyn

My response ~

Thanks Lyn for letting me know they arrived. Moosie is so cute next to the Hugger!! We dont have any cats, or pets. I purchased the fabric from JoAnn Fabrics, and I did wash the fabric... so maybe its the detergent on the fabric? I hope that Moosie allows you to stitch from now on. I think that this is just the cutest story! If you need some more of that fabric to keep Moosie away from your QSnap Hugger, I can send you some. Do you mind if I post this post this email and picture to my blog?! If you need anymore QHs, please email me. :) Enjoy!

Check that out! Moosie is a fan of QSnap Huggers! HE HE

Joy Ornament - LK FINISH

WOW, what can I say.... WHAT A GAME! I have to say, Im so glad the Giants WON! I was yelling so hard at the end, it was amazing!

Another reason I was yelling, is cause I had a start and a finish during the game! How cool is that!. I started and finished the "Joy" from Lizzie*Kate, from the '07 JCS Christmas edition mag.

10 minutes before we left, I was trying to find something to stitch, and I came up with this ornament.... even had to find the fabric and fray check the sides... and find all the threads, and we were off to BIL's house.

So it took me less than 3 hrs to stitch this baby, but that included time to eat, drink and watch the game of course!

I stitched it on a piece of remnant linen I had here. It appears to be 32ct, and I stitched it with DMC floss.

Well....

Well I think we are ready for the "game" tonight. I went and did some shopping and then made my taco dip.

When I got home, I said to Brian, umm where is the cooler for the soda. He said its either in the shed, or the camper (where we store our camping gear). I looked to the shed, and then to the camper. Ok, I needed another option. Smart woman glaced around .. look what I found for a cooler! He he

Here is my results of the taco dip (a recipe I found on a message board). Looks yummy! Cant wait to taste test it!

Taco Dip

1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1 cup sour cream
1 cup french onion dip (this is the one in the carton)
1 envelope taco seasoning
shredded lettuce
cheddar cheese, shredded
1 lg tomato, chopped
Black olives (optional)

In small mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sour cream, french onion dip and taco seasoning. Spread onto a 12" round serving platter (I used 2 of our plates). Top with lettuce, cheese and tomatoes. Serve with tortilla chips.

Its Super Sunday!

So far the day has been about backstitching.. what a day! Great to see a design pop with backstitching! Been backstitching on the model. Im glad I have been backstitching as I go. Im at the point where I need to move it on the QSnap, so I figured I would do the backstitching now. So, for the past couple hours, Ive been playing with the one ply of black.

Well, since its finally Super Bowl Sunday, which the Patriots and the Packers Giants play. We are going over to my BIL & SIL's house again to watch the game. Im in charge of bringing the soda. But just seen a cool recipe for taco dip, so I will be going to the store in a bit to pick up the rest of the ingredients. Brian doesnt really care to go and watch the game, but Ive talked him into it. He said "Im not really interested in it, since the Packers are not playing" I agree with him, but Im more into the company, and the commercials..LOL

Well I suppose I should get going to the store.. go myself and do some "additional" shopping, since part of our tax return came Friday. WOOHOO! $$$!

Well there went that resolution for the year

I did set one resolution for this year, to try to blog every day on here. Well, looks like I fell off the wagon!

I think the main reason I cant, is cause I really dont have anything to show for my stitching. Im stitching on a BAP model right now, and Im concentrating on getting it done soon. Hopefully in the next 2 - 3 weeks I will have it done. I dont want to sound like Im complaining, but dang this is the hardest model I have had to stitch. VERY detailed with lots of shading, and a couple stitches here and there of the color. So Im constantly changing out the colors. Im sure your jaw will drop when you see the model!

I have been stitching on Snapperville, but only when we watch a movie now it seems. LOL Snapperville isnt that intense of a project to work on. So I can stitch then look away. But I find myself looking away more than stitching.. LOL

I joined another SFE (Small Finish Exchange) on one of my groups. I have seen the themes and started looking for options of patterns. I have a few ideas, but still throwing a few ideas along. These will be good take to work projects. Since the internet at work, has been limited. As in, they blocked sites on the internet now.. meaning I cant even check my emails on breaks. ARGH! And come on now, you can only read the same magazine over so many times..LOL

Umm what else... oh I cut out the blocks for the Yellow Brick Road quilt. Now I just need to sew them together and then cut some of them out again. Maybe hop on the sewing machine alittle today and work on that project.

Tomorrow we are going over to my BIL & SIL's house to watch the Superbowl, since we dont get the network stations here. Not really thrilled about the game, just more the commercials and the halftime show. I wished that Green Bay was closer to home (110 miles not so close), I got an email yesterday from The Stitching Bee, and they are having a Super Bowl Sale. I went last year.. and had a blast!

Well Im going to close this post with a picture of my 2yr old niece Kaylee... being the queen she is! Hope to get to to see her next month. Aunt Kim has been asked to babysit for the weekend sometime in March... and do you think I said no?! Also, I guess Kaylee has been asking for me.. and keeps saying "Where did Kimmy go?" I think its super funny, as she calls Brian, "Uncle Bian".

Round.. I lost count

This afternoon, Brian and I had to run up to Iron River for some errands. Our third to the last stop was to get some groceries. As Im walking across the parking lot, out of NO WHERE Im broad sided in the eye with a snowflake! I must have pissed off Mother Nature as I swore under my breath.

We were in the check out line, and I told Brian, dont even look outside.

It was a WHITE OUT! Dagnabit! We got home just barelly crawling, all the groceries and what nots into the house, and I thought I would snap a picture of our ....

Winter Wonderland....

I heard that we were suppose to get 2", but I think that since we have been home we have gotten 2"+! See the picture, you can see the famous internet satalite dish on the outhouse..LOL

Progress Report of the Double Flips

Here is a pic showing my progress of the Double Flips from Lizzie Kate. So far I have stitched "Dream", "Love", and "Remember". Its turning out fricken cute! I love the colors on the white fabric as it really makes the threads pop!

Thought I would share a progress picture before I moved the fabric up on the QSnap.

Thanks to Rebecca, she stated in her comment on the first progress pic, that there is a SAL for this design. I have been invited and just posted my first post over there too. Check it out. Lizzie Kate SAL

Next up quilt project...

What do you think of my palette for the next requested quilt to be made?!?!

I was asked if I could make a quilt for a friend. I needed to find out what colors they wanted and what theme, if any they were looking for. Last Wednesday I had asked what colors they would prefer, and it was plainly said. "Bright colors!" And it was my choice for pattern. So Saturday at work, while I played with the fabrics, I pulled out the fabrics that screamed "bright" to me. Came home with the 18 fat quarters. Took them with me to work today, and got the approval that they liked the colors. :)

I'm going to use the Yellow Brick Road pattern, which will really make the quilt BRIGHT! I'm not going to attach a border, but use black for the binding.

Just need to get the fabric washed, and then I can start whacking away at it.

What a game!

As I type this comment is a lovely, -10.2 degrees outside!

I first have to say, congrats to the New York Giants on their win. My head hurts from yelling, and my throat is sore. What a great game! The Packers gave it their all, and it showed, but dang overtime (Webster, you weren't suppose to catch that ball!!) Hope the Giant's coach doesn't end up with a nasty case of frostbite

Just because the Packers lost, doesn't change my liking for them.. it always makes it sweeter! Great job boys! Is it August yet?!

Well, the plan was for the day to go to my BIL's and SIL's house at 11:30am, to watch their son as they went on a little trip downstate. And the kid wanted to watch the game @ 2. So we were asked if we could watch him. So I went down there, and well, he played his Game cube, while I stitched. Worked out great! I did have to frog some on the word love. But I got a great start on it otherwise.

So, this was my results of my stitching today. Its a progress pic of the Double Flips from Lizzie Kate. I LOVE how its turning out! I'm also stitching on a BAP model, so having this as a side project is great!

Need your help! Vote For Brett!

What a perfect day to pass this along! Go Packers!! Brian and I are all decked out in our Packer appearal, and ready to whip some Gaint butt! Im looking forward to the game!

YOU NEED TO VOTE FOR BRETT!!!!!!!!!!!

Extra Skeins of Floss

Last April, or May.. cant remember. I took advantage of the Hancock going out of business at their Rhinelander store. If I remember right, I think I purchased like 435 skeins of floss. Well since then, they have been in their bag that I came home with. And if I think I might find a skein of a certain number, I look in the bag.

Otherwise, I have a list of all the DMC floss that I have extra of, which I store right in my Jammer box. So, today, I sat down and sorted out all of the floss that I needed to inventory, and put the #s on my list. How I store my extra floss is simple. They are all grouped by their own numbered bags, (example.. 712 is in the 700 bag, 3799 is in the 3700 bag.). I use quart size ziploc bags, and for 2 of the #s - 700 & 800, are in gallon size ziploc bags.

Now what I will do is print out the "Extra DMC List" and tape it to my Jammer box. It does seem like alot of work, but have me from searching thru 100's of skeins to find one skein! Now when I go to pull threads for a new project, of when I need to add some to the bobbin, I can check the list and see if I have that skein. If not, then I buy it. Works great for me!

BTW, this does not include the floss that I have pulled for birthday exchanges.

How do you store your extra skeins of floss?

SBQ - Jan 16th

This week's SBQ was suggested by Outi and is:

What is your favorite past time while stitching? Do you just enjoy silence, listen to music/audiobooks or do you "watch" TV/movies? Do you have specific favorites you listen to/watch while stitching?

Well, mostly when I stitch, its in my stitching chair, and the tv is always on while we are in the living room. When Brian is watching tv, then he kinda controls watches what he wants to watch. And when he is gone to bed, I like to turn on the music channels and listen to the music.

When we watch a movie.. I barely get any stitching done. I like to actually "watch" the movie..LOL If I do listen to music during stitching.. then its mostly CMT, or country music.
