Progress Report from Me

Well its after the weekend, and the only real thing I did all weekend was work. And it was a very exhausting - both mentally and physically. So I'm so glad I have a hobby to come home to and ENJOY!

I have been working on Garden Pleasures from Little House Needleworks, but I don't have much to show. I'm again stitching over 1 on 28ct, so its turning out CUTE! Hope to get more stitching time on it today.
The other day at work, I was kitting up a kit for an adorable appliqued wall hanging that I had ordered a couple weeks back for the quilt shop. Its from The Wooden Bear and its called Stradding Witch.
I'm making the shop model - and to tell you the truth, this is my first time using the appliqued technique! And tell you what! So far I'm loving it! Its soooo easy... and I think to myself.. oh the possibilities!! This is just a WIP picture of the model - hope to get the pieces ironed down this weekend. :)

Here is a picture of what the witch looks like so far. I hadn't gotten to kitting up the borders so when I'm there tomorrow I will cut some for the model and the rest of the kits.

I have finished up a couple SFE and PIF, and of course I don't want to share pictures till the recipients receive them. :)

Now I'm off to work on a couple orders of QSnap Huggers. :)

SBQ - July 28th

Today's SBQ was suggested by Dani and is:

Have you ever thought of getting a rider on your household insurance to properly cover your stash (some of us have quite an extensive stash that an average household policy wouldn't fully cover) in the case of some sort of damage to your house that would destroy/ruin charts, fabrics, floss, etc?

Gosh I hope to never have to think of that.. but I have. I dont think that an insurance policy would cover all the priceless stash that I have.

Have you ever ...

eaten ice cream with a fork!?!

I just did...LMAO! Brian asked me if I wanted some ice cream and I said sure.

It was served to me on a paper plate with a fork... LOL

*Shaking head*

Jam Reunion

For those that don't know, my husband's side of the family is VERY musically talented. To the point where someone in that family should be famous with all their playing they do. Well last night, my husband's niece and her family were up visiting from down state. And she wanted to get the guys together to play music last night on her dad's porch.

Of course I had to work, and didn't get home till 8:30p. But the "reunion" started about 7p, and the music playing started shortly after.

Once I got there they were warmed up. They play gospel and country. I got to hear my favorite song that my BIL sings - "Amanda" and "I'll Fly Away"

Had a great time listening to them play, and hated for them to end.

From left to right:Lisa (Brian's niece), next 3 are Brian's brothers, Jimmy, Mike, Jonathon, and Brian.

Lisa started playing the guitar about 2 yrs ago, and she has written a song, which Brian played lead on it. Jimmy plays the harmonica and the 5 string banjo. Mike is the lead singer and plays the acoustic guitar. Jon plays an awesome bass. Brian plays lead guitar and the 6 string banjo.

Brian has a wonderful voice and is shy to share it. He has a combination voice of Elvis and Buddy Holly. Sweet!

Framing of Quilt Time Sampler and Sampler Game Board

I love to stitch and finish project, but I have a problem with actually "finishing them".

The other night - I think if I remember right it was Monday - I got out the mounting board and I mounted up Quilt Time Sampler and the Sampler Game Board. I LOVED how the SGB turned out from mounting it - but I wasn't sure about QTS. I had a frame that was the perfect size for QTS and I just framed it with the frame.

This afternoon I took SGB to the frame shop to find a frame to work with the design... OMG if you look here - I'm getting almost the exact frame! But the frame I'm getting has the rough (sanded) edges! I'm so excited I cant wait to see it when its finished.. Now I just have to wait 3 weeks!!

I asked the framer about her opinion about a mat around the outside of the QTS. I know my framing is not straight.. man oh man is linen hard to frame with! She said that it looks fine.. so here is a picture of what QTS looks framed up. (You can click on the picture to see it bigger.)

I did pick up a few fat quarters to make pinkeeps and pillows with them for my SFEs and PIFs. :) Will post more pictures of them when the recipients receive them. :)

Necessities Sampler - LHN FINISH

When I first saw this new design from Little House Needleworks, I just had to stitch it as soon as I received it. I had won it off eBay, and when it arrived. I got the material and the floss out to stitch it.

So here it is.. Necessities Sampler from LHN. It is stitched over one on 28ct material - Im not sure of the color/brand of the fabric as it was a remnent. I used the DMC floss that was suggested. I did leave off the border as I didnt care for it.

I hope to finish this off as a pillow for myself. :)

No Power

Thats what I heard at the door this morning after I got off the phone with my sister this morning.

Just before I could hear a vehicle outside, but didnt feel like investigating. I happen to catch a glimpse of orange go by the window. Knock Knock - it was the power guy at the door announcing that they had to turn our power off for up to 2 hrs in a few. Well an hour later, the power went out. I was being nosey so I took a couple pictures thru the screen door to show Brian when he got home from the bank. They took the transformer off the pole and rewired a cable back. So the power was out for about an hour. And what was funny - they had their lunch break in our drive way for 45 minutes.. LOL I was tempted to take out some ice cream.. hehe.

Well during that time I took advantage of stitching. It was cloudy out so I had just enough light to get me a finish! Yep I have a finish to share, but Im going to wait till tomorrow to post.

While I was waiting for the power to come back on, I started alittle cleaning and organzing of my stash. Got a to stitch pile going again. :) I also worked on a QSnap Hugger order, and got it to the post office. Got home about 3p as we were expecting a call for Brian. To relieve some stress we took the scooters for a ride. We put on about 20 miles today. Was so nice to get out and do alittle sightseeing.

When we got back.. I got in the framing mode. Ive been wanting to frame "Quilt Time Sampler" from LHN, and get Game Board Sampler, on the mounting board to have it framed. I spent over 2.5 hrs framing QTS!! Still not satified with it. I worked on a SFE, and a PIF.

Off to stitch!

SBQ - Sept 19

Today's SBQ was suggested by Ish and is:

Which project (finished or in progress) are you most proud of? Explain why.

Gosh - I have done so many projects that I have been the most proud of. I will have to say that I'm proud to have been able to stitch any at all. Cross stitching really has brought an enjoyment to my life, and seeing it from pattern to fabric, is just awesome!! And the friendships its brought to me - priceless

Rainbow

God was at it again.. keeping His promise. We had a sudden surprise (to us) down pour of a rain shower about 30 minutes ago. I told Brian I was going to be on the look out, after it was done raining, for the rainbow.

Waiting for the pizza to get done (I know a wonderful lazy cook tonight), I sat down to start on a new project, and I happen to open up the blinds to see if I can see a rainbow. Sure enough!!

There was the rainbow peeking back at me. :)

Sweet Heart Sampler - Blackbird Designs FINISHED

I just finished this too cute sampler!! I had seen it on a blog a few months back and I just HAD to have it!! Its called "Sweet Heart Sampler" from Blackbird Designs. I used a piece of hand dyed blue that I had in my fabric collection and used a fiber we were given at the retreat, called Willow Leaves from Olde Willow Stitchery.

I had alittle fright with this piece of fabric. I was almost done and I had to stitch the z.. talk about biting fingers hoping that there would be enough excess fabric to do anything with it. But I was lucky.. there is. I hope to make it into a pillow. :)

Thanks to all that stop by and take a peek at my blog, it means alot!! And its extra special when comments are left ... thanks to the ones that do! Makes my day!!

SBQ - July 12th

Today's SBQ was suggested by The Wagon and is:

What do you love to do that many people hate? What do you hate to do, but do anyway?

I actually don't mind doing French Knots. Just like everything, it takes practice and alittle technique! I sorta hate doing backstitching. So you can see why I prefer designs like L*K, BC, HIH, LHN, CCN, BD.

~**~~**~

I have another finish to report, but unable to show picture of it, since its for a SFE. Picture will be posted around Aug 20th, as that is when the SFE is due to the recipient. :)

Small House Sampler - LHN FINISH

Just before dinner tonight (and that included taking alittle nap this afternoon.. he he) I finished up on Small House Sampler, a freebie from Little House Needleworks. I used a piece of 32ct Creek Bed Brown from R&R. I used DMC floss to stitch.

This afternoon, I had to go to the Post office. I suggested that we take the mopeds to the P.O., and take alittle ride. We were on a back road near town - and sitting in the middle of the road was a Momma bear and her two cubs. They were sooo cute!! The baby of a husband turned his bike around and headed the other way, and wanted to go home.... lol Big baby!! Of course I didn't have the camera, so I don't have proof, but I think I have enough proof in Brian to testify.. LOL

My Friend - Finished as a Pillow

Yesterday a cross stitching friend of mine was celebrating a birthday, and since meeting her in person at the retreat, I wanted to do something special for her. We are in a birthday card and floss exchange - but I wanted to include something special.

If you follow this blog, a couple post below I had stated that I had finished up on a small design from Count Your Blessings, called "My Friend". Well I finished it into a pillow. Loved how it turned out!!

The birthday girl that received it loved it! And said that it meant so much for her.

Good Things - LK FINISH

I have found my smokin needle, which is now taking a cooling off - just long enough to figure out what Im going to stitch next .. he he.

I started this cute design on Thursday night, did not stitch at all on Friday, and sat down tonight, and finished it. :)

Good Things from Lizzie*Kate - stitched over 1 on 28ct. The color of the fabric is like a green brown, stitched with the good ole' DMC floss. I have something in mind to finish it - stay tuned to the outcome.

There is still room on my PIF post - you don't need to PIF on your blog, but you can do it in life. :) I stitch a little something for you, finish it off, and you reap the reward.

Working on QSnap Hugger orders tomorrow. I again THANK the ones that have let me know they have received their QH, and enjoy them! Thank you!

Be True To The Red White and Blue - Katidid Designs FINISH!

How appropriate for America's birthday!

This cute design is from Katidid Designs, and its called "True To The Red White and Blue. I had purchased this design while at the retreat 2 weeks ago. It was something I had bought just in case I finished up the design I was stitching on.

I stitched it with the suggested WDW floss that is called for - Lancaster Red, Navy, Onyx, and Light Khaki. Stitched over 2 on 28ct piece of evenweave.

Have a wonderful 4th!! I have to work, but will be watching the parade from the patio at the nursing home. This is my 6th 4th of July I have missed due to working. Hope to have it off next year!

Happy 230th Birthday America!!

500th Post! SBQ - June 22nd and July 3rd

WOW, hard to believe that this is the 500th post I have made to my blog. I remember when I first started this blog and reaching 100 would be a milestone.. LOL Here we are... 500. I know it might look little, but that's awesome for me!

Thanks to ALL that have visited my blog and those that have taken the time to leave a comment. I really appreciate it!! You all are wonderful!!

June 22nd's SBQ was suggested by Kathryn and is:

When you start a new work do you look for something small, do you look for another huge project or do you consider your UFOs?

This is a good question - as there are times when I ponder what to stitch next. Most of the time it is something I had seen while blog hopping. I will stitch a big design along with a smaller project - just in case I gotta grab it and run.

July 3rd's SBQ is:

Do you consider yourself a "floss miser?"

Call me dumb - but I had to look up the definition of miser.

A miser is a person who is reluctant to spend money, sometimes to the point of forgoing even basic comforts. The term derives from the Latin miser, meaning "poor" or "wretched," comparable to the modern word "miserable."

Umm ok... no Im not a "floss miser", I have a whole set of DMC and almost a complete 2nd set for back ups, and I have TONS that are just in a bag that need to be sorted out, and put on the sheet that tells me what I have of a certain floss number. As for the hand dyes - I have plenty of those too. So, Im more so a FlossAholic!!

As far as stitching with the floss, well I guess I would be a "stitching miser" he he. As far as the DMC floss, I can just toss it when its like 5" or less.. not even worry about winding it back on the bobbin, but then the hand dyed floss.. gotta get the last possible stitch out the strand.

My Friend - Count Your Blessings FINISH

This evening I was looking thru some of my charts that I received while at the retreat as prizes and goodies. Well I came across this design from Count Your Blessings. Dang does Kathy have adorable designs!

I had started stitching this about 6p, while watching Little People, Big World, and just kept at it.. well took a break to make tacos for dinner and the occasional mother nature breaks.. he he

This is called "My Friend" by Count Your Blessings. I stitched it on 28ct linen - a piece I had picked up in Indianapolis, with the suggested DMC Floss. I love how you can look at the words in the letters of friend. So cool!! I plan to finish it as a pillow.

Trust, Laugh, Love, Sister, Confide, Faithful - spoken true of a friend!

Since doing the exchange with the BC board, I had said that I would love to do an exchange again, and soon. Well I was thinking of reinstating the Pay It Forward again, since I didn't do it the first time around. To my surprise today - I had seen that Irene was doing the PIF, and I thought YEA!! I love to do some designs and finish them.. perfect!

I did signed up at Irene's blog.
